Recommended Builds and Roles for Avalonian Elite Dungeons
A successful Avalonian Elite Dungeon group needs more than high Item Power. Every player should understand their role, know when to use key abilities and be prepared to swap skills for specific bosses. Avalonian Dungeons reward organized parties where tanks, healers, supports and DPS players work around the same timing.
The exact meta can change after Albion Online balance updates, but the core role structure remains consistent: one main tank, one crowd-control tank, dedicated healers, Arcane support, damage-boosting supports and strong PvE DPS builds.
Important: Treat this section as a role and build framework. Before publishing the final version, the exact item sets should be reviewed against the current Albion Online patch and then linked to updated AOM build pages.
Core Avalonian Dungeon Role Setup
A standard Avalonian Elite Dungeon party should be built around the following role structure:
- Main Tank: usually an Incubus-based tank setup.
- CC Tank: usually a Hammer Tank responsible for control and stun rotation timing.
- Main Healer: focused on keeping the tank and priority targets alive.
- Group Healers: often Ironroot-based healers or supports that can swap for boss fights.
- Great Arcane: core control and support role for mob clearing.
- 1h Arcane: second Arcane control role used in the stun rotation.
- Damage Supports: Realmbreaker, Shadowcaller, Ironroot support and similar utility roles.
- DPS Players: strong PvE damage builds used to kill mobs and bosses during damage windows.
The most important point is that every build should serve a clear purpose. Avalonian Elite Dungeons are not the right place for random fame-farming gear unless the group is intentionally carrying beginners through lower-tier runs.
Tank Builds for Avalonian Elite Dungeons
Tanks are the foundation of an Avalonian Dungeon party. A weak or inexperienced tank can make even a high-damage group unstable. Tanks must understand mob positioning, boss direction, defensive cooldown timing and how to recover when a pull goes wrong.
The Incubus Main Tank is responsible for starting pulls, holding aggro, positioning bosses and absorbing the most dangerous damage. This role should usually have higher Item Power than the rest of the group because the main tank is exposed to heavy pressure throughout the dungeon.
Incubus Main Tank
The main tank should know every boss mechanic before the fight starts. Boss positioning is especially important because many Avalonian bosses have frontal cleaves, cones, reflective shields or mechanics that punish the party if the boss faces the wrong direction.
During mob pulls, the main tank may also be asked to start specific pulls when the Hammer Tank would be at too much risk. In these cases, communication between the main tank and the caller must be precise. The caller should clearly explain which mob to pull, where to walk, when to stop and when to return.
Main Tank Responsibilities
- Start dangerous pulls when needed.
- Hold aggro on mobs and bosses.
- Face bosses away from the party.
- Use defensive cooldowns before large damage events.
- Keep boss movement controlled and predictable.
- Understand when to stabilize a failed pull and when to reset.
Hammer Tank / CC Tank
The Hammer Tank is one of the most important roles during mob clearing. This player helps control mobs through the stun rotation and often acts as the caller for the dungeon.
The Hammer Tank usually works closely with the Great Arcane and 1h Arcane players. If the rotation is clean, the party gets a long window where mobs cannot cast dangerous abilities. If the Hammer Tank is late or overlaps control incorrectly, the pull can become unstable.
The Hammer role is also practical for calling because it has direct control over key moments in the pull. The player can start or shape the pull, place Inertia Ring, call the Great Arcane timing and follow up with the Hammer stun.
Hammer Tank Responsibilities
- Help create clean mob clumps.
- Place Inertia Ring when needed.
- Follow the stun rotation correctly.
- Coordinate with Great Arcane and 1h Arcane.
- Call resistance shred timing for support players.
- Use damage reduction swaps during boss fights when required.
Healer Builds for Avalonian Elite Dungeons
Healers keep the group stable during long fights, failed pulls and boss mechanics. Avalonian Dungeons often deal damage in waves, so healers need to understand when to conserve cooldowns and when to commit major healing tools.
A common structure is to use one main healer and two additional group-healing or Ironroot-based roles that can adjust for bosses. The exact setup may vary depending on the party, but the group should always have enough healing to survive both steady pressure and burst mechanics.
Main Healer
The main healer focuses on the tank and priority targets. During boss fights, this player must keep the main tank alive while also reacting to group damage when mechanics hit multiple players.
The main healer should avoid unnecessary movement and should position safely. If the main healer dies or gets silenced at the wrong moment, the group can collapse quickly.
Main Healer Responsibilities
- Keep the main tank alive during pulls and bosses.
- React quickly to burst damage.
- Avoid avoidable AoE and silence effects.
- Coordinate with group healers during high-damage phases.
- Swap abilities for boss-specific mechanics when needed.
Group Healers and Ironroot Healers
Group healers help stabilize the party during large AoE damage, boss phases and failed pulls. Ironroot-based roles are especially useful because they can provide healing and support while also swapping for specific situations.
For inexperienced groups, defensive or recovery options can be valuable. Some boss fights become much safer if healers can recover downed players or stabilize the group after mechanic mistakes.
Group Healer Responsibilities
- Cover group-wide damage during boss mechanics.
- Support players who are targeted by dangerous abilities.
- Coordinate healing cooldowns with the main healer.
- Swap to recovery tools for difficult bosses when needed.
- Keep safe positioning and avoid spreading dangerous mechanics.
Support Builds for Avalonian Elite Dungeons
Support builds are one of the main reasons Avalonian groups can clear efficiently. They improve damage, reduce enemy resistance, add control, protect the group and help the party survive mechanics that would otherwise be dangerous.
Support players must understand timing. Using support abilities at the wrong moment can waste a large part of the group’s damage window. This is especially important during the Great Arcane and Hammer stun sequence.
Great Arcane
Great Arcane is a core Avalonian support role because of Time Freeze. During mob clearing, the first Great Arcane cast usually defines the entire pull. If it lands cleanly, the group gets a controlled opening. If it misses or lands too late, mobs may cast and disrupt the party.
The Great Arcane player must account for cast delay and mob movement. In difficult pulls with Spearmen, Monks or delayed Knights, timing becomes especially important.
Great Arcane Responsibilities
- Cast Time Freeze at the correct moment during pulls.
- Coordinate with the Hammer Tank and 1h Arcane.
- Avoid wasting Time Freeze on uninterruptible casts.
- Prepare damage reduction or utility swaps for bosses when needed.
- Communicate if the pull timing is unsafe or if mobs are not clumped.
1h Arcane
The 1h Arcane acts as the second Arcane control role in the stun rotation. This player helps extend the control chain after Great Arcane and Hammer have created the opening.
The 1h Arcane should listen closely to the caller and avoid casting too early. Poor timing can overlap crowd control and waste duration, while late timing can allow mobs to begin casting.
1h Arcane Responsibilities
- Follow the stun rotation timing precisely.
- Extend the control window after Hammer stun.
- Support the group with utility when needed.
- Prepare boss-specific swaps if the strategy requires them.
Realmbreaker Support
Realmbreaker support helps increase group damage and can contribute to resistance reduction and utility. This role should be coordinated with the caller so that important debuffs are applied after the correct control window begins.
Using Realmbreaker at the wrong timing can reduce the value of the group’s burst. The player should be ready to apply support pressure when the mobs are controlled and the DPS are about to commit damage.
Shadowcaller Support
Shadowcaller support provides strong damage amplification and utility. In Avalonian Dungeons, this role should focus on correct timing and clean execution rather than simply casting abilities as soon as they are available.
The Shadowcaller should pay attention to the Great Arcane window, Hammer stun timing and caller instructions. Good Shadowcaller timing helps the group kill mobs before the control chain ends.
Ironroot Support
Ironroot support can be useful in multiple situations because it can contribute healing, linking, defensive value or boss-specific utility depending on the setup. The role should remain flexible and adapt to the party’s needs.
In some boss fights, an Ironroot support may need to swap into a more healing-focused setup. In other situations, the role can support damage windows or improve group survivability.
DPS Builds for Avalonian Elite Dungeons
DPS players are responsible for killing mobs group during stun windows and pushing bosses through dangerous phases as efficiently as possible. High DPS reduces the number of mechanics the group has to handle and lowers the chance of mistakes over time.
However, Avalonian DPS is not only about raw damage. Players must also understand threat, positioning, timing and boss mechanics. Reckless DPS can wipe the group if it pulls aggro, attacks into reflective shields or stands in dangerous AoE.
Meta DPS Builds
The original build framework lists several strong DPS categories for Avalonian Dungeons, including Blazing Staff, Frost DPS, Light Crossbow and Specter Jacket-based DPS setups. Some of these weapons or effects may have stacking limits, so the group should avoid bringing too many copies of a build that does not stack efficiently.
Blazing Staff
Blazing Staff can provide strong damage, but it should usually be limited because some damage effects do not stack effectively. A party should avoid overloading the composition with multiple builds that lose value when duplicated.
Frost DPS
Frost DPS is valuable because it can provide consistent damage and useful boss-specific utility. Some boss strategies may require a Frost player to swap abilities to support the mechanic or reduce boss pressure.
Light Crossbow
Light Crossbow is a strong PvE damage option and is commonly used in organized Avalonian compositions. Crossbow players may also need to swap abilities for bosses, especially when the party needs additional armor reduction or boss damage support.
Specter Jacket DPS
Specter Jacket DPS setups can provide strong damage, but they require good awareness. Melee or close-range DPS players are more exposed to boss cleaves, AoE and positioning mistakes, so the group should limit risky melee-heavy setups unless players are experienced.
Melee DPS Considerations
Melee DPS can work in Avalonian Dungeons, but it is usually more dangerous than ranged DPS. Many Avalonian bosses and mobs punish players who stand too close or in front of the target.
If the group brings melee DPS, those players must understand when to hold damage, when to back away and where to stand during boss abilities. Melee players who ignore mechanics can create unnecessary pressure on healers and tanks.
Off-Meta DPS Builds
Off-meta DPS builds can be used in lower-tier Avalonian Dungeons or when helping beginners gain experience. However, they should be limited in serious high-tier runs because weaker damage slows the clear and makes dangerous pulls less reliable.
Examples of off-meta or lower-priority DPS options include Weeping Repeater, Badon Bow, Longbow, Cursed Skull, Great Cursed, Lifecurse and Mistpiercer. These builds may still be playable, but the party should understand that they are not always optimal for high-tier Avalonian farming.
DPS Responsibilities
- Be ready to burst as soon as the control window begins.
- Do not attack bosses before the tank has threat.
- Do not stand in front of bosses with cleave attacks.
- Respect reflective shields and damage-return mechanics.
- Use poison potions when called.
- Swap boss abilities when required.
- Avoid spreading dangerous mechanics to the party.
- Prioritize clean execution over reckless damage.
Build Swaps for Boss Fights
Many Avalonian Dungeon builds should not be treated as fixed from start to finish. Some bosses require specific ability swaps, defensive options, healing tools or damage-reduction rotations.
Before each boss, the caller should remind the party to check swaps. DPS players may need to adjust damage abilities, healers may need recovery tools, and supports may need boss-specific utility. Forgetting swaps can make a boss significantly harder than necessary.
Common Types of Boss Swaps
- Damage reduction swaps: used for large boss damage events.
- Healing recovery swaps: useful for inexperienced groups or dangerous phases.
- Armor reduction swaps: used to speed up boss kills.
- Defensive swaps: used when players need to survive burst mechanics.
- Utility swaps: used for specific boss mechanics or positioning strategies.
