Avalonian Knight Captain Boss Guide

The Avalonian Knight Captain is a positioning and tank-responsibility boss. The main mechanic requires the tank to maintain a protective buff from the shrine in the center of the room. Without this buff, the boss can one-shot or heavily punish the tank.
The fight also includes reflective shields, vision-based damage, jumping attacks and a slow damage ramp during the second phase. Clean tank movement and boss facing are the most important parts of the encounter.
Main Strategy for Avalonian Knight Captain
The main tank should face the boss away from the party and maintain the shrine buff. The yellow shrine area in the middle of the room gives the tank the buff needed to survive the boss’s most dangerous damage.
The party should position behind or to the side of the boss, avoiding frontal attacks and reflective shield angles. The tank should use the boss’s Reflective Shield cast as a good timing window to refresh the shrine buff without moving the boss at a dangerous moment.
Tank Shrine Buff
The shrine buff is mandatory for the tank. The tank should refresh it consistently and avoid letting it fall off during dangerous boss attacks.
Standing in the yellow shrine area deals increasing true damage over time, so the tank should not remain there longer than necessary. The goal is to refresh the buff quickly and return to proper boss positioning.
Phase 1
During phase one, the boss uses frontal attacks and Reflective Shield. The tank should face the boss away from the party, and DPS players should stop attacking if the boss’s shield is facing them.
Two-Handed Swing
The boss slams his mace twice in a cone in front of him. This is easy to avoid if the tank faces the boss correctly and players do not stand in front.
Reflective Shield
The boss knocks players away and creates a reflective shield in a frontal angle. Players who attack into the shield take reflected damage.
DPS players should move behind the boss or stop attacking until the shield is no longer dangerous. Recklessly attacking into the shield is one of the easiest ways to die in this fight.
Phase 2
At around 50% health, the boss enters the second phase. He begins using additional mechanics, including Eye and Big Jump, while slowly gaining damage and movement speed through Avalonian Oath stacks.
The boss’s jumps can disrupt the party, so the tank should reposition quickly after each jump and face the boss away from the group again.
Eye
During Eye, the boss looks at players and deals damage to anyone in his vision at the end of the channel. Players can avoid this by hiding behind pillars, but proper damage reduction can also make the mechanic manageable.
The caller should make sure damage reduction is available for Eye, especially if the group is not hiding cleanly.
Big Jump
The boss targets a player and jumps toward them, knocking back and damaging players in the impact area. The indicator can be misleading because the final landing spot can shift based on the targeted player’s movement.
DPS players should save movement abilities for this mechanic. The tank should reposition immediately after the jump so the boss does not face the party during the next Reflective Shield.
Avalonian Oath
The boss gains Avalonian Oath stacks when he casts Eye. Each stack increases his movement speed and damage. The ramp is gradual, but the fight becomes more punishing if it drags on too long.
Positioning Tips
The safest approach is to choose two practical tanking spots and move between them as needed. The tank should use mobility tools to reposition the boss after jumps and keep the party out of frontal mechanics.
Playing closer to a pillar can make the Eye mechanic easier if the group wants to line-of-sight it. However, the tank should still avoid unnecessary movement that causes DPS downtime or confusing shield angles.
