The Black Market in Albion Online is a special market located in Caerleon, where you can sell equipment to buy orders generated by the game system. The price of the same item can differ significantly from its price on regular markets in Bridgewatch, Martlock, Thetford, Fort Sterling, Lymhurst, Brecilien or Caerleon, which means that a well-planned transport run can generate additional profit.
Our Albion Online Black Market Calculator compares current item prices and helps you find the most profitable opportunities. You can check regular item purchases and sales on the Black Market, calculate crafting profitability, find a cheaper item upgrade path and plan an entire transport run to Caerleon while taking your budget and carrying capacity into account.
The calculator also includes the transaction tax with Premium and without Premium, so the displayed profit is calculated after selling costs rather than only from the difference between two prices. Current Marketplace transaction tax rates are 8% without Premium and 4% with active Premium.
Choose a server, configure the parameters and check which items can currently generate the highest profit.

How Does the Albion Online Black Market Calculator Work?
The calculator analyzes prices stored in our Price Core and compares the purchase price of an item in the selected city with the current Black Market buy offer in Caerleon.
The basic principle is simple:
buy cheaper → transport to Caerleon → sell for more on the Black Market.
However, the price difference alone does not represent your actual profit. The calculator also takes into account the sales tax, item quality, enchantment, data freshness and other costs depending on the selected money-making method.
This allows you to compare opportunities based on net profit and ROI instead of looking only at the highest Black Market price.
Best Black Market Opportunities
When you open the page, the calculator automatically displays the 5 best currently available opportunities.
You do not need to know a specific item or manually check every market. The ranking allows you to quickly see:
- where to buy the item;
- its current purchase price;
- how much the Black Market offers;
- how much tax will be charged;
- how much silver remains after the sale;
- estimated profit;
- ROI;
- market data age.
The Top 5 does not consume your available calculator search limit.
Direct Flip – Buy an Item and Sell It on the Black Market
Direct Flip is the simplest way to use the calculator.
You select a city, buy a finished item from the market and transport it to Caerleon. You then sell it to an existing Black Market buy order.
The calculator compares:
the lowest sell price in the city → the highest Black Market buy price
and subtracts the appropriate transaction tax from the result.
For example, an item may cost 500,000 silver in Lymhurst while the Black Market may offer 680,000 silver for it. The 180,000 silver difference is not yet your actual profit — the sales tax must first be deducted.
That is why the results display net profit, rather than only the spread between the two markets.
Premium and Black Market Tax
When calculating profit, you can specify whether your character has active Premium in Albion Online.
The current transaction tax is:
4% with Premium
and:
8% without Premium.
This can significantly affect the profitability of items with smaller margins.
For example, on a 1,000,000 silver sale, the difference between a 4% and 8% tax is as much as 40,000 silver.
Important: Premium in Albion Online and Premium Player on our website are two different things. Premium in the game affects the transaction tax, while Premium Player provides additional calculator features such as unlimited calculations, price history and the ability to check selected prices live.
Craft → Black Market
Buying a finished item is not always the most profitable option.
The Craft → Black Market mode allows you to check whether crafting the item yourself and selling it on the Black Market would be more profitable.
The calculator takes into account, among other things:
- material costs;
- Resource Return Rate;
- returned resources;
- Focus;
- Focus cost;
- recipe cost;
- station fee;
- Black Market price;
- sales tax;
- net profit;
- ROI;
- Silver / Focus.
If you know your exact Resource Return Rate displayed by the game, you can enter it manually instead of using the calculator’s automatic estimate.
Item Quality When Crafting
The quality of an item created through crafting is not guaranteed.
Therefore, selecting a quality above Normal should be treated as a conditional calculation:
how much you will earn if the item is actually crafted at the selected quality.
The calculator does not assume that every craft will result in Masterpiece quality.
Upgrade Flip – Buy a Lower Enchantment and Upgrade the Item
Sometimes a finished .2 or .3 item is significantly more expensive than a lower-enchantment version of the same item together with the materials required to enchant it.
The Upgrade Flip mode checks, among other paths:
.0 → .1;.0 → .2;.0 → .3;.1 → .2;.1 → .3;.2 → .3.
The upgrade cost is calculated using current prices of the appropriate enchanting materials and item data stored in our database.
This allows the calculator to identify situations where it may be more profitable to:
buy a cheaper version → upgrade it → sell the upgraded item on the Black Market
instead of buying a finished item with a higher enchantment level.
.4 items are not treated as part of the regular enchantment upgrade path.
Trip Planner – Plan an Entire Transport Run to Caerleon
The highest ROI on a single item does not always result in the best transport run.
If you have a limited budget and your mount has limited carrying capacity, the total profit of the entire transport run may be more important.
Trip Planner allows you to specify:
- starting city;
- available budget;
- maximum carrying capacity;
- minimum ROI;
- maximum price age;
- maximum number of units of a single item.
Based on these settings, the calculator creates a basket of items that can be purchased and transported to Caerleon.
The results display, among other things:
total investment, estimated sale value, tax, net profit, transport weight, budget utilization and profit per kilogram.
Check Item Availability Before Buying
A market price does not mean that any number of units is available at exactly the same price.
Therefore, the quantity displayed by Trip Planner is a planned purchase quantity, not a guarantee of available stock.
Always check the current in-game market before purchasing larger quantities of an item.
Why Is Price Freshness So Important?
The Black Market can change quickly.
An opportunity visible several dozen minutes earlier may no longer exist because another player may already have sold the item to that buy order. Competing Black Market tools also place strong emphasis on data age and warn players against making decisions based on outdated observations.
That is why the calculator displays the age of every price.
The fresher both of these prices are:
purchase price + Black Market price
the greater the chance that the displayed deal still exists.
Very old data should be treated as an estimate rather than a guaranteed offer.
Current Prices for Premium Player
Premium Player users can recheck the price of a specific item through Price Core.
The refresh covers only the selected item and the required markets, so there is no need to retrieve prices again for the entire Albion Online database.
After the update, the calculator recalculates profit and ROI.
Even after such a check, you should still pay attention to the timestamp of the price observation — querying the data source does not mean that someone has just visited that specific in-game market.
Does High ROI Always Mean a Good Opportunity?
No.
An item with 100% ROI may be a much worse choice than an item with 20% ROI if:
- the price comes from an old observation;
- the item is very expensive;
- only one unit is available on the market;
- the Black Market order has already been filled;
- the transport involves too much risk;
- the item has very low liquidity.
That is why you should consider all of the following at the same time:
net profit + ROI + price age + investment value + weight.
Trip Planner helps combine this information into a single transport plan.
Black Market and Transporting Items to Caerleon
The Black Market is located in Caerleon.
This means that items purchased in other major cities must be physically transported to Caerleon.
You should therefore never treat estimated profit as guaranteed.
The more expensive the transport, the larger the portion of your own capital you risk during a single trip.
A good approach is to spread your budget across several different items instead of investing all of your silver into a single opportunity.
How to Start Making Silver on the Black Market
When starting out, it is best to use Direct Flip with a relatively small budget.
Instead of looking for a single item with enormous potential profit, choose several fresh opportunities with reasonable purchase prices.
Before every transport run:
check the price age, make sure the item has the correct tier, enchantment and quality, and check the Black Market again before making a large investment.
Once you understand the basics, you can move on to more advanced methods:
Craft → Black Market, Upgrade Flip and planning larger transport runs.

The Black Market is located in Caerleon.
Do I Need Premium to Sell on the Black Market?
You do not need Premium to use the calculator or compare offers. However, active Premium in the game affects the transaction tax. The current rate is 4% with Premium and 8% without Premium.
Does the Calculator Include Tax?
Yes. Profit is calculated after subtracting the transaction tax corresponding to the Premium or non-Premium setting.
What Does ROI Mean?
ROI shows what percentage of the silver you invested may be returned as profit.
Example:
a cost of 1,000,000 silver and a net profit of 200,000 means an ROI of approximately 20%.
Where Does the Calculator Get Its Prices?
The calculator uses the service’s Price Core, which stores normalized market data used by the tools on the website. Black Market prices are analyzed using the appropriate buy orders, while regular market prices are based on sell prices.
Does a Price in the Calculator Guarantee Profit?
No. Market data can change between the last observation and your arrival in Caerleon. Always check the age of the prices and confirm the offer in-game before making an expensive transport run.
Which Is Better: Direct Flip or Craft?

Direct Flip is simpler because you buy a finished item.
Crafting may provide a higher margin, especially with a favorable Resource Return Rate, Focus and inexpensive materials, but it requires more precise cost calculations.
What Is Upgrade Flip?
Upgrade Flip involves purchasing a cheaper item with a lower enchantment level, upgrading it and selling the higher-enchantment version on the Black Market if the total cost of the operation is lower than the final selling price.
Does Trip Planner Guarantee That All Items Will Be Available?
No. The planner uses currently known prices to create a purchasing plan. Before buying, you should check the actual number of units available on the market.
